MC CEO Shortlisted for Great Britain’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Marriott Communications is proud to announce that Founder and CEO, Samuel Marriott-Dowding, has been shortlisted for Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2026.

The recognition celebrates entrepreneurs demonstrating innovation, leadership and meaningful impact within their industries, highlighting those building businesses that contribute to economic growth and shape the future of their sectors.

The shortlist follows five years of significant growth and evolution for Marriott Communications, which has developed from an independent PR consultancy into a strategic communications and advisory firm supporting organisations across the UK and beyond.

Our firm was founded on the belief that communications is not merely a function of marketing, it is a strategic discipline that shapes perception, influences decision-making, and creates organisational advantage.

Over the past five years, our firm has expanded our service offering across public relations, strategic communications, public affairs and intelligence, supporting clients across professional services, built environment, complex institutions, and commercial media.

Alongside the expansion of our strategic communications services, we have also strengthened our regional presence, demonstrating that ambitious, globally connected communications firms can be built from the North East while competing on a national and international stage.

A key part of this growth has been the firm’s commitment to innovation - including the launch of the North East’s first Intelligence service, designed to help organisations understand emerging risks, navigate complexity and make informed commercial and political strategic decisions.

Samuel Marriott-Dowding said:

“Being shortlisted for Young Entrepreneur of the Year is a hugely meaningful recognition, not just personally, but for everything we’ve built at Marriott Communications.

When I started the firm, the ambition was always to prove that a North East-based consultancy could deliver work with national and global impact.

The last five years have been about challenging expectations, investing in innovation and building a business that creates real value for our clients, our region and the wider industry.”

The recognition comes at another important moment for Marriott Communications, as we continue to expand our international outlook and develop new opportunities across global markets.
